One of Brisbane’s largest and most successful shops has just been sold.

Howard Duhs and his partner Judy have sold their AvantiPlus North Brisbane store to Lana and Richard Lopatich and are planning to take a long holiday around Australia.

Howard started in the bicycle industry working at Lifecycle on Petrie Terrace with Blair Stockwell way back in 1979.

In 1994 they bought the Lifecycle Albany Creek store from Blair and changed it to an AvantiPlus store in the early 2000’s.

Albany Creek is a suburb on the north west edge of the Brisbane metro area.

Looking for more floor space they moved further north to set up the current store in Brendale 3 ½ years ago. It’s a very large store on a prominent corner location with its own café and plenty of off street parking.

Meanwhile new owners Lana and Richard have just moved down from Cairns. Richard is a keen cyclist and ironman triathlete.

Richard is also a chartered accountant by profession and previously worked for an oil company, based in New Guinea. Despite having a well-paying career, Richard said that he wanted to follow his passion for cycling.

Existing staff members Pete, Jason and Jens are all staying on. Lana and Richard say they’re planning to tweak the café menu to add some more healthy meal options and they’re also planning to stock more ebikes.
