Move over 29ers. The first shipment of 36’ers just rolled into town. We’re not talking about the Adelaide 36’ers NBL basketball team but mountain bikes with 36 inch wheels.

Erik of Crank’n Cycles in the southern Western Australian town of Collie just became the first Australian retailer to stock these super-sized bikes.

As we previously reported here, Rich Morrant, founder of Tractor Bikes has designed these bikes and has contracted out the manufacture to a Taiwanese company.

Although the bikes are huge the initial shipment size is small, with just a couple of hundred bikes and two colour options.

Erik explained that he and Rich are friends who have worked together on a cycling event a Margaret River.

Rich told Bicycling Trade that he’s now about to go on the road, looking for a small number of dealers across Australia.
