Australia’s bicycle industry may have had a rough year in 2016, but the French market just recorded its third consecutive year of growth.
Ebikes were a big reason for the growth. Ebike sales grew by over 30% to 134,000 units.
Sales of all bikes totalled 3,034,000 units, making the market a little under triple the size of Australia’s in terms of units.
Within ebikes, eMTB’s were the fastest growing sub-category, increasing by 72% from 9,000 sold in 2015 to 15,300 sold in 2016.
P&A sales also grew by 5.9% with the total French market including all bikes plus P&A worth 1,795 billion Euros (A$3.245 billion)
