Sad news this week with the passing of Brett Dennis (Chicken).
On Friday the 22nd of September, Brett tragically took his own life after a dark battle with PTSD.
Brett is best known as the promising young cyclist who cycled off a cliff in the US Tour DuPont road race, falling approx 80 meters down a cliff and smashing his femur through his hip socket.
Doctors gave him little chance of walking properly again, but within 3 months he went on to win gold at the 1994 Commonwealth Games.
He also set a new record with his team mates Phil Anderson, Damian McDonald and Henk Vogels as they smashed the Australian record in the 100 km team time trial.
Brett was a family man and loved his wife and kids dearly, he was a great mate to his friends and was loved by all.
He was one of the most humble people you could meet and he had a cheeky sense of humour.
Brett's Funeral will be held in Canberra next Thursday the 5th October at 4.30 pm (Norwood Park, 65 Sandford Street, Mitchell, ACT).
A celebration of Brett's life will continue after the service at Pushys / Bspoke Cafe (79 Collie Street, Fyshwick, ACT).
Brett will be sadly missed by all.
A Go Fund Me page has been setup to help support Brett's Family through this difficult time.
